The latest Galaxy S smartphone, the Samsung Fascinate, will debut on Verizon Wireless September 8 for $199 after $100 mail-in rebate. Powered by Samsung’s 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor and running Android 2.1, the Fascinate will be a welcomed addition to Verizon’s Android line up fitting nicely between the Droid X and Droid 2. The phone is the perfect alternative to the Droid X since fits in your pocket and the screen is big enough to not need a hardware keyboard like the Droid 2.
The Samsung Fascinate features the virtual QWERTY keyboard using SWYPE technology. In order to take home the Fascinate for the $199 price, subscribers will need a Nationwide Talk plan of $39.99 or higher and an Email and Web for Smartphone plan of $29.99 or higher. As usual, the mail-in rebate of $100 will come in the form of a debit card, usable anywhere debit cards are accepted.
With the Vibrant, Captivate and Epic currently available for the other three major US carriers, Samsung’s assault on the US Android market is in full force. Previously, the manufacture had confirmed it shipped its 1 millionth Galaxy S smartphone to the US so it will be interesting to see how quickly they break the 2 and 3 million mark.
