Another letdown for Nintendo Wii owners looking forward to NBA Jam, according to EA Sports Vancouver, there will be no online multiplayer for NBA Jam on the Wii.  Much like EA’s NHL Slapshot, the upcoming NBA Jam game will be limited to console play despite plenty of EA Wii titles offering the functionality such as Madden NFL, FIFA, Tiger Woods PGA Tour and last year’s Grand Slam Tennis.

Owners of the PS3 and Xbox 360 who purchase NBA Elite 11 will be given a free one-use download coupon for NBA Jam.  The downloadable version will include multiplayer, but unlike the Wii version, it will not have the Remix Tour which has boss battles and unique challenges in single and local co-op matches.  However, all version of the game will use the same lineup of players, secret characters and NBA Legends.

So now you have to decide, would you rather have the Remix Tour functionality of the Wii version or the online gameplay on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions?  Whichever the case may be, NBA Jam ships on October 5 for the Wii and NBA Elite 11 for Xbox 360 and PS3 owners ships the same day.
