Gaming on the Mac just got a whole lot more interesting according to Rockstar. Over on the developer’s ‘Asked & Answered’ reader question, Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas are likely to make the transition to the Mac this year. An official statement is expected soon, possibly even this week.
The porting of the GTA Trilogy to the Mac is not a complete shocker since the developer has already experimented with Apple’s gaming audience by porting Chinatown Wars to the iPhone and iPad. With Stream releasing their client for the Mac, Rockstar is poised to be the next major developer to explore the potential of Apple’s desktops.

Yes! Look for the long-awaited release of the classic Grand Theft Auto Trilogy (Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) for Mac – most likely later this year. Now that the iMac and Mac Pro feature 5700 and 5800 series Radeon cards and Core i7 or better chips, gaming on the Mac is no longer a joke.
